I am confused about a function parameter of void _______, what does this mean
Why can't I use this type void _______* to construct a pointer,
void test(void* x)
{
*(int*)x=1234;
}
A:
void * is not a real type; it is just an arbitrary pointer type. So:
*(int*)x
is illegal.
The right way to do this would be to pass in a pointer to int, and then dereference that pointer:
void test(int *x) {
*x = 1234;
}
int main() {
int i = 42;
test(&i);
}
Note that you could define test with a different signature, such as void test(void * x), and you could cast the void * to int * if you want to do something more complicated.

It was a historic summer for the U.S. Cross Country program as five different U.S. athletes broke the course record at the 2015 IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Kampala, Uganda.
